The Morkie may have a coat that is long and straight or it may be somewhat wavy or even curly. Colors for the Morkie may be gray, cream, white, red, black or apricot. The exact coloring as well as the type of coat that is achieved in a Morkie will largely depend upon its heritage. Some Morkies tend to take more after the Yorkie side while others more strongly resemble the Maltese side. First generation Morkies are called Classic Morkies and come from two purebred parents, one Maltese and one Yorkie. Classic Morkies tend to have the general appearance and markings of a Yorkshire Terrier, but with white in place of the usual tan. Like many breeds, the Morkie puppy is usually born very dark in color. As they mature, lighter shades of gold, silver and white often appear.
